Every summer, tourists from all over the world flock to Egypt to take advantage of some of the best beaches in the world. It is a popular holiday destination for those looking to relax by the sea, with pristine sand conditions and plenty of activities taking place. Here we look at the locations you don’t want to miss out on.
If you’ve visited Egypt before, then you’ll know that many beaches are actually private – and are only available to guests of the hotels that own them. Therefore, when looking for a good spot to sunbathe, it’s important to consider your accommodation options too.
Hilton Alexandria Corniche offers one of the best beaches in the city. If you’re not staying at this hotel, you’d have to pay a fee to enjoy this location, but guests have complete access and are provided with a free shuttle bus.
This spacious beach offers you the opportunity to unwind under the sun with a spectacular view of the Mediterranean Sea, after which you can take a dip in to refresh yourself. Food and drink is also available if that’s what you desire, with staff on hand to make sure everyone has everything they need to enjoy their visit.
But not everyone heads to the beach solely to sunbathe. Some are more interested in physical activity, and so head to places like Mersa Matrouh. The seemingly never-ending sand is perfect for bicyclists, while many decide to spend their time exploring the nearby coves.
If you’re looking for something a little more secluded, then Abu Qir is an excellent choice. This old fishing village is just a fifteen minute drive from Hilton Corniche
, and makes for a nice change from the noise of Alexandria. It also has nice, calm waters that are great for people who love scuba diving.
Hilton Hurghada Long Beach Resort is another that offers its guests free use of its private beach, which stretches out over 1,100 metres.
The location of the city means visitors can experience the glorious sunshine all year-round, with the clear waters providing ample opportunities for water sports. Snorkelling, scuba diving and wind surfing are all popular activities available here.
In addition, private beaches have the advantage of being just a short walk away from many of the hotel’s other features, such as the 12 bars and four restaurants.
Alternatively, you could head down and spend your day at the Old Vic Beach. Although privately owned, entry is very reasonably priced at just 25 EGP per person. For that, you can have access to a family-friendly environment that offers beach volleyball, a massage service and a café. There’s even Wi-Fi available if you feel the need to browse the web while you relax.
A more expensive option is the Dream Beach at around 40 EGP per person, and located just five minutes away from Hilton Hurghada Resort
However, it is considered to be the most popular in the area, mainly due to the fact that it provides entertainment as well as a peaceful environment.
There’s music, sometimes from a DJ stage, while dancing groups and an animation team also regularly show up to provide a more unique experience for visitors, so there’s always something interesting going on that keeps people coming back time and time again.
After transforming from a small fishing village to one of the biggest tourist destinations in Egypt, Sharm el-Sheikh became known as one of the best scuba diving spots in the world. Wherever you stay, you’ll have access to many excursions that head out into the Red Sea.
But if you’re looking for a good beach to visit, then your best bet is to make the five minute journey from Hilton Sharm Waterfalls Resort to Terrazzina.
Described as Sharm el-Sheikh’s first main party beach
visitors can expect a lively atmosphere with plenty of music and dancing. International DJs frequently put on a show on Friday nights, playing the hottest club music of the day. There are spots to relax too if that’s what you would prefer, while the restaurant provides excellent food.
Or, you might fancy a trip to one of the man-made, private beaches in Shark Bay – convenient if you’re staying at Hilton Sharks Bay Resort. While none of these locations have direct access to the sea, you are free to use the beaches owned by the surrounding hotels as well – a walkway links them all together.
They have all the typical luxuries you would expect a world class resort to have – great bars and restaurants, refreshing pools and a relaxing atmosphere.
El Fanar, or “The Lighthouse”, is a beautiful beach
that is surrounded by a coral reef. The wide variety of fish in the area makes for an excellent snorkelling experience, while music is played to help you relax as you lie by the sea. An Italian restaurant is on location to provide you with some of the finest dishes in Sharm – the perfect spot for a romantic getaway. What are your favourite beaches in Egypt?
